Stop Electing Rich People

I have nothing against rich people in general.

I mean, rich people authored the industrial revolution to enslave us, have worked to maintain a demoralized, fearful socioeconomic underclass to support their continued accumulation of wealth, and with boundless greed have led the way to the depletion of our resources and the pollution of our planet, but other than that they're not bad people. I just think we should expand our horizons a little. Why does every U.S. Senator and President of the United States need as a prerequisite to delectability a bank account with several million dollars in it?

Here is an eight-step process toward evening the odds a little:

  1. Stop watching TV, because TV is the instrument that rich people use to brainwash you.
  2. Stop blaming people for your problems.
  3. Read A LOT. Reading will make you think.
  4. Stop believing everything you hear. Ask questions. Do research. Find out the truth.
  5. Have meaningful conversations with the people you see every day.
  6. Find the common ground. Don't be inflexible. It is ok to insist on what you know is right until it is proven wrong. Sometimes you may have to agree to disagree. Concentrate on those things to which you can all agree.
  7. Build a consensus to support someone you know as an ethical person with leadership qualities to elect to local public office.
  8. Elect that person no matter what political party they belong to, if any.

Repeat steps 5 through 8 as necessary until our political system is filled with ethical leaders.
